CAV Celebrates 100 Years

Hunter Rawlings speaks to a joint meeting of CAV and CAMWS-SS
on the classical education and applications of James Madison and Thomas Jefferson.

Dear friends and CAV members,

We are now making some final preparations for the CAV Centennial Celebration in Richmond on Saturday, October 30.  There will be, as you know, a tour of the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, a lecture by Hunter Rawlings, a reception, and a banquet.  You indicated earlier that you were planning to attend this event.  We understand that plans need to be changed, but we are hoping that you still will be able to join us for this great celebration.

As a word attachment you will find the program and also the registration form for the tour and the banquet.  We are tying to get an estimate of these numbers, and we ask that you send in your reservation as soon as is convenient.  The cost of the banquet is $50, and because of the generous donations by those wishing to honor Virginia classicists and teachers, that will be the only cost of the Centennial Celebration for the participants.  You will also receive a program and registration form in the forthcoming CAV Newsletter.

Again, John Miller and I, co-chairs of the CAV Centennial Committee, hope that you can attend and can simplify the process for us by registering early.  If you have already registered for the banquet and tour, please accept our greetings but ignore the request!

Multas Gratias,   Jon Mikalson and John Miller
