I hope your summers have been restful and restorative! As we careen towards the beginning of another school year, I wanted to draw your attention to a few important events this Fall.
September 13: CAV Fall Meeting (University of Virginia)
As is CAV tradition, we will be holding our Fall meeting on the grounds of the University of Virginia. For the meeting, we have a tremendous lineup of exciting speakers: Eva Carrera (James Madison University), Nikki Carroll (Collegiate School / Governor’s Latin Academy), and Stephan Hassam (Randolph-Macon College). The registration site will be up on the CAV website in the next couple of weeks. So, be sure to register for what will be an awesome meeting!
October 3-4: FLAVA Fall Conference (J.R. Tucker High School, Richmond, Virginia)
This year’s FLAVA Fall Conference will be held at J.R. Tucker High School in Richmond. There will be a number of excellent presentations from Latin teachers from across the Commonwealth so, be sure to come and support them! To register for the FLAVA Fall Conference, visit:

November 13: Virginia Undergraduate Research Symposium in Classics (Online)
This year marks the 13th Annual Virginia Undergraduate Research Symposium in Classics, an event that showcases the very best in undergraduate research being done in Classics throughout the Commonwealth. The event lasts from 2-5 pm, is free, and is open to the public. If you have students who would like to present research at the event, please contact me. Students who present are invited to attend the CAV Spring Meeting free of charge.
As you can see, with so many excellent programs, Classics is alive and well in the Commonwealth! I hope to see you at these programs and wish you all the best as the school year kicks off!
